Since his rookie year with the Boston Celtics, Jayson Tatum has been determined to restore the franchise’s glory. Last season, he got the chance to help the Celtics capture their 18th NBA title, which they achieved after a decade. During this pursuit, one of his biggest supporters has been his son, Deuce.
Tatum’s close bond with his son has been well documented, and in a new Netflix docuseries titled “Starting 5,” fans will get an even deeper look at their relationship. The series follows Tatum’s journey throughout the 2023–24 NBA season and reveals personal moments that highlight their connection.
At the premiere of the docuseries, Tatum shared a heartwarming tradition he has with Deuce. During the premiere of the series, he revealed that he sends Deuce a postcard from every city he visits on Celtics road trips. Deuce hangs them up with care on a board.
“He makes jokes about it. Oh, I know, you gotta go play basketball so you can buy me all these nice things. I send postcards home every road trip. And everyone has a note behind it. Let them know where I’m at,” Tatum said.
“We have like this NBA map in his room,” he added.
