NBA Champion Jayson Tatum had a memorable summer this year. He won the NBA Championship and the Olympic gold medal with Team USA. However, he’s been criticized immensely since the NBA Playoffs and during the 2024 Paris Olympics. The Celtics cruised easily past the Mavericks to win their 18th title.
The Boston Celtics duo has been in the talks for a while. Tatum was shockingly benched in most of the Olympic matches. Meanwhile, his duo, Jaylen Brown, has been on a spree since he was not selected for the Team USA squad. Jayson was recently invited on “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon,” where he predicted an NBA Finals rematch for the upcoming season.
Jimmy first asked, “Since we now know that you can predict the future, I thought that I could ask you some questions about the upcoming basketball season.” (at 04:24)
When Fallon asked about the 2025 NBA finalists, Tatum first took the name of the Boston Celtics. Then, about his opponents, he added, “Uh, it’s going to be a rematch. We’re going to play Dallas again,”
With this statement, Tatum clarified his intentions of clinching another title. The 2024 NBA Finals title marked the 18th of the franchise, surpassing the Lakers, and Tatum looks forward to adding more to his portfolio. With the Celtics having mostly the same roster, they are still among the contenders to win back-to-back championships.
Jayson Tatum Also Named Himself As The MVP For The Next Season
Jimmy Fallon asked specific questions in the rapid-fire round, to which Tatum had some interesting answers. When asked about the MVP for the upcoming season, he had a very quirky response.

The talk-show presenter asked Jayson Tatum to predict the next NBA MVP. With humility, he said, “Can I say myself?”
This clearly shows his mentality and confidence despite having a bad phase during the Olympics. Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown shut down the critics around them last season. However, the Mavericks have certainly upgraded their roster this season, and after Tatum’s challenge, it’ll be interesting to see a series between the two teams. We surely hope it’ll be much better than what it was during the 2024 NBA Finals.
