When Game 3 between the Boston Celtics and Indiana Pacers tipped off, the Celtics were not in a comfortable position. Despite this, the Celtics managed to pull off a victory due to the dominance of Jayson Tatum. After the game, Tatum credited their win to the team’s resilient mentality.
During the post-game press conference, Tatum explained that the Celtics remained determined despite falling behind by a significant margin, which ultimately led to their win.
“We believe. We believe that we still could win this game. It’s damn sure not the time to give up or have the thought creep into your mind,” Tatum said.
The Pacers played without their All-Star Tyrese Haliburton due to injury. That was a huge blow for them, but still, the Pacers put up an intense fight. Nevertheless, they couldn’t maintain their lead. The Celtics erased an 18-point deficit, securing a 114-111 comeback win over the Pacers in Game 3 of the Eastern Conference Finals.
Jayson Tatum’s Impressive Game 3 Performance
Though Jayson Tatum was not happy with his Game 1 performance, his near-perfect performance helped the Celtics seize total control of the Eastern Conference Finals series. In Game 3, the Celtics legend scored 36 points, grabbed ten rebounds, dished out 8 assists, and blocked two shots. Moreover, he made one steal, all without committing a single turnover.
This incredible stat line makes Tatum the first player in NBA history to achieve the feat in a playoff game. At just 19 years old, Tatum demonstrated a level of play many veteran players struggle to reach.
