Boston Celtics’ superstar Jaylen Brown has been widely mentioned in trade rumors since the club’s elimination at the hands of the Miami Heat in the Eastern Conference Finals.
Brown is widely considered one of the top-20 players in the NBA, but many have called for the Celtics to shake up their core following another disappointing postseason defeat. If Boston decides to go that route, could an archrival team lend a helping hand?
SNY’s Ian Begley proposed a blockbuster trade idea that would see the New York Knicks land the All-Star guard in exchange for R.J. Barrett, Immanuel Quickley and draft picks:

Brown was named to an All-NBA team this season. That makes him eligible for a “supermax” extension this offseason. For Brown, the extension would be worth $290 million over five years. Jayson Tatum will also be eligible for a supermax extension next summer. His extension will be worth $318 million in total. So Boston has to decide between paying $600 million to Brown and Tatum or breaking up the duo.”
Boston already began a drastic roster shake-up by sending fan favorite and defensive stalwart Marcus Smart to the Memphis Grizzlies in a blockbuster three-team trade that brought Kristaps Porzingis over to Beantown.

The 26-year-old Brown is coming off his second career All-Star selection. The No. 3 pick of the 2016 NBA Draft has helped Boston to five Eastern Conference Finals appearances (2017, 2018, 2020, 2022 and 2023) and a trip to the 2022 NBA Finals, where they fell to the Golden State Warriors.
Brown is coming off the best statistical season of his career in which he averaged 26.6 points, 3.5 assists and 6.9 rebounds per game. He shot a career-best 49.1 percent from the field albeit a career-low 33.5 percent from beyond the arc.
