Until he finally steps foot on the court, Kyrie Irving will continue to get flooded with trade proposals.
Irving still hasn’t played this season with the Nets due to a New York City mandate that requires athletes playing in indoor arenas in the city be vaccinated against COVID-19.
On Wednesday, ESPN’s Jay Williams proposed a trade scenario that could get him back on the court while giving the Brooklyn Nets what they want.
“I will pose this for you,” Williams said to “Get Up” colleague Mike Greenberg. “If we move to an area in New York where three shots [two shots and booster] is required. How does Kyrie Irving actually play here in New York City?”
Williams continued, “I actually think for Portland, it would be in their best long-term interest to let Damian Lillard go …. How about a swap there? Dame [for] Kyrie.”
Irving still hasn’t made it clear why he won’t get vaccinated, other than wanting to be a “voice for the voiceless” for those who have lost their jobs due to vaccine mandates.

If traded, he can continue to be the voice for the voiceless, but in another city that doesn’t require him to be vaccinated. New York City mayor-elect Eric Adams has said that he doesn’t intend to end the mandate when he takes office.
Whether that means he finally gets vaccinated or the Nets decide to let him play on road games only remains to be seen.
Despite only having eight players dressed due to an outbreak, the Nets continued on their winning ways without him on the court.
