Former ESPN columnist and FS1 personality Jason Whitlock is making a bold prediction for LeBron James and his son Bronny after the Los Angeles Lakers season came to an end.
On Tuesday’s episode of “Fearless,” the podcast host compared LeBron James and the Lakers to a failing marriage and the way the franchise plans on fixing it by bringing up Bronny James.
Here’s what he had to say:
e
“With the league’s all-time leading scorer, the franchise has advanced to the NBA’s biggest stage once in six years. This is a bad marriage. It’s showing all the signs…
“When spouses realize, ‘Hey, this marriage is going sour,’ what do they do? One of the parties will go, ‘You know what will fix this? A baby… Let’s have another baby. That will fix it. Yeah that will rekindle the old spark that united us.
“So guess what happened last night after the Denver Nuggets eliminated the Los Angeles Lakers” Shams Charania reported that owner Jeanie Buss was open to adding LeBron’s unqualified son Bronny James to the Lakers’ roster. … They’re so desperate to keep [LeBron] they’re willing to make his son a Make-A-Wish kid in the NBA.”
This is hardly the first time Jason Whitlock has taken aim at LeBron James.

Back in 2020, the sports columnist said LeBron James is a “false God” who shouldn’t be worshiped by fans and the media.
“LeBron James is worshiped by sports fans by, many of his peers bi virtually everybody in the sports media. LeBron is a false god. He’s just a human being, just like everybody else. Yes, it’s great he can dunk a basketball, and he’s a terrific basketball player, but LeBron James isn’t really doing anything all that important, and I know that he’s given some money and is the face of a school in Akron, but at the end of the day, LeBron James is a very tall, very athletic, very accomplished basketball player. It’s inappropriate to worship him,” Whitlock said at the time.
“The worship of false gods like LeBron James, is reaching a really high level. And you’re seeing athletes, prominent athletes, very masculine athletes who worship LeBron James and who can’t understand some of the things I’ve said about LeBron James are just in reaction to his actions, what he says, and what he does. And I’m looking at grown men, not LeBron James but his worshipers, other grown men, other professional athletes completely offended,” he said.
Earlier this month, Bronny James announced his intention to enter the NBA Draft, even though his odds were not favorable after suffering from cardiac arrest in the summer. In addition to entering the transfer portal, he is still eligible to opt out of the draft and continue attending school.
James can stay in the draft or return for his second season until May 29, which is the NCAA’s withdrawal date.

Bronny is attempting to determine whether to return to school or register for the draft. He averaged 4.8 points, 2.8 rebounds, and 2.1 assists during his rookie campaign.
Lakers’ Very Open’ to Drafting Bronny James To Keep LeBron James
The Los Angeles Lakers’ elimination from the playoffs means that LeBron will become a free agent this summer.
The Athletic‘s Shams Charania claims that the Lakers are keen to give LeBron whatever he desires to end his career with them, and Bronny may have some say in those talks.
The Athletic reported on Monday that the Lakers are “open to the prospect” of drafting Bronny.
“His option date is June 29th, and guys, this is interesting because June 29th is after the NBA draft and right before free agency,” Charania said on The Pat McAfee Show. “LeBron James will have all the answers he needs to have by that point. What happens with his son, Bronny James, if he does stay in the draft? Another thing I reported and we reported, the Lakers very much have interest in drafting Bronny James.
“They know LeBron James has spoken on the record about wanting to play with Bronny, and at the end of the day, he wants the best for Bronny.”
The Pelicans may receive the 17th overall pick in the 2024 NBA Draft from the Lakers as part of the 2019 Anthony Davis trade. Los Angeles has a second-round pick in the draft this summer.
