After confirming their seats in the Western Conference semifinals, the Dallas Mavericks announced the re-signing of their head coach, Jason Kidd, to a multi-year contract extension. This served as an answer to the Lakers, who were keeping an eye on Kidd to replace their recently fired coach, HC Darvin Ham.
Team governor Patrick Dumont stated, “We are excited to have Coach Kidd continue to lead our team throughout the coming years with this well-earned contract extension.” Dumont continued to add, “Kidd led our team to two playoff appearances in three seasons, and we are looking forward to his leadership in continuing to build and grow this already great franchise.”
The Dallas franchise has shown improvement under him this regular season, finishing with a 50-32 record, twelve wins more than the previous season.
Kidd’s contract was till the next season; however, by extending the offer, they secured their success rate as the Hall of Famer already has a plan to build a great team fit to chase the championship.

Jason Kidd’s Thoughts on Team Building
When Jason Kidd was asked about the key aspects of building a great team, the coach answered, “Patience, time. Having the right people. Sometimes it takes time to find those right pieces, and when you do, you hold on to them… this group is really good in the short amount of time, so we have to build on that.”

Last year, the Mavericks acquired Kyrie Irving, who was a valuable asset alongside the team’s star player, Luka Doncic. The team has been built around the duo, resulting in great success.
The Mavericks will face the Oklahoma Thunder in their semifinal series starting from Tuesday at the Paycom Center, where the team’s offense and defense will be significantly tested against the Western table-toppers. OKC was the dominant side in this specific match-up in the regular season with a 3-1 record, and Jason Kidd’s men will be doubly determined to avoid the same fate.
