With Luka Doncic’s superpower, the Dallas Mavericks clinched a spot in the Western Conference Finals. His impressive display didn’t go unnoticed, as head coach Jason Kidd quickly praised him following the game.
Doncic logged 29 points on 9-of-15 shooting from the field. In the post-game press conference, while discussing the Mavericks’ super win, Kidd did not forget to give a shout out to the Slovenian superstar.
“It’s incredible that he’s [Luka] been there two out of the [last] three years. He’s one of the best players in the world. He’s got a team that he believes in,” Kidd said.
Doncic’s performance was even more remarkable, considering he played with a right knee sprain and left ankle soreness throughout most of the 2024 NBA Playoffs. Despite his injuries, he led the Mavericks with determination and a game-winning mentality.
While Doncic paved the way, Kyrie Irving had a big second half, finishing with 22 points. Together, their efforts created a formidable duo that the opposing team struggled to contain. PJ Washington also played a crucial role, hitting up by one with 2.1 seconds left.

Despite this incredible personal achievement, Doncic was quick to share the credit with his teammate Kyrie Irving, echoing Trae Young’s words. In the post-game press conference, when asked about his relationship with Irving, Doncic highlighted the significant influence his teammate has had on his development.
“He’s helped me mature a lot. Helped me see the game in a different way,” Doncic said.
After Doncic, Irving also shared his perspective on their on and off the court.
“Off the court, I knew eventually that I would get him to open up. He’s a teddy bear that likes to compete,” Irving said.
This powerful pair has influenced one another both on and off the court. Mavericks fans are surely eager to witness this strong bond in the upcoming game as well.
For that, they now have to wait for the outcome of the Denver Nuggets and Minnesota Timberwolves showdown, which will be decided in Game 7 on Sunday.
