In a recent interview with HoopsHype on behalf of Adidas Eurocamp, Los Angeles Clippers star shooting guard James Harden advised players not to let others rush their path to the NBA and to avoid being one-and-done. He emphasized the importance of being patient with the process and used his own experience as an example.
“Be patient with the process… I had people telling me after my first year at Arizona State that I was gonna be a lottery pick… After my second year, I was the 3rd overall pick. I had to tell my friends I was not ready yet, but I need another year to develop,” Harden said.
“Gotta Keep Pushing”
The reporter asked Harden about his recent years in the NBA and his mentality while playing during this time. In response, Harden said that everyone experiences moments when they want something and it isn’t achieved.
“I think we all go through certain, you know, times in our life where you want something, you feel like you want something, and it hasn’t just happened for you. But I think for whoever’s felt like that or is going to feel like this, I think you just gotta keep pushing and keep staying at it. I guess the only option you have, and for me, I think, mentally, just staying strong, making sure I know exactly what I want to keep doing until I can’t do it anymore.” Harden continued.
A recent interview with a fan of James Harden provided insight into the challenges the latter has faced during the playoffs in his career. The fan mentioned that Harden has often played against the champions during the playoffs, whereas other star players have faced easier opponents.
