Victor Wembanyama has been solid in his performance this year. Averaging 25.7 points, 10.7 rebounds, and 3.8 assists, he has been one of the mainstays for the San Antonio Spurs. It is majorly for the 21-year-old’s antics that helped the Spurs maintain an 18-17 win-loss record while keeping the playoff hopes alive. However, there might have been a particular X factor responsible for Wembanyama’s fantastic performance this season.
The 21-year-old approached Jamal Crawford with a proposal to train together. While Crawford did accept the offseason invite, he was a bit confused by Wembanyama’s decision. Speaking in an episode of Ringer’s ‘NBA Show,’ the former NBA shooting guard explained his experience with the one-time NBA MVP.
“He reached out and his team reached out to train him… I’m like, ‘What’s he trying to get better at?’ Like his handle and his footwork and I’m like, ‘Oh well, right up my wheelhouse.’ But let me just reach out to (Gregg Popovich) to make sure the stuff that he’s working on will go with the Spurs,” said Crawford.
The former NBA icon further stated that he devised a workout routine that had Wembanyama focusing on his hand and footwork. Not to mention, it has been quite a fruitful learning curve for the Spurs’ star. Meanwhile, apart from focusing on getting better at his game, Wembanyama has also given his take on the recent All-Star game rule changes from the NBA.
Victor Wembanyama Gives Interesting Take On NBA All-Star Game
The NBA has come up with a new idea for the All-Star game to make the league more interesting. Instead of the traditional approach, there will be a tournament played among four teams. Now, while icons like LeBron James have welcomed the format with open arms, Wembanyama does not look all comfortable with it.
“I’m personally wondering how to put competitiveness back into the All-Star game… But I don’t think anything beats the old-school East vs. West format,” Wembanyama stated.

Thus, it is evident that the Spurs’s icon is not fully convinced about the format. However, having gained some valuable experience in the offseason, Victor Wembanyama will look to continue his good work in the coming future.
