Unlike most people in the media, Jalen Rose has actually gotten some love from Kwame Brown. An old clip surfaced within the past few days showing how Stephen A. Smith was trying to bait him into calling the former NBA player a name.
On the Extra Points With Cousin Sal & Dave Dameshek podcast this week, the ESPN NBA analyst talked about how a debate he had with Skip Bayless years ago on First Take and how it changed the industry in his mind.
“Those two days of debate actually changed the landscape of the industry in a lot of ways. The video of me debating Skip Bayless, the first day was about Russell Westbrook and he was talking about how Westbrook wasn’t a terrific performer because he wasn’t a traditional point guard. The next day, they brought Stephen A. Smith [who wasn’t working for ESPN at the time] on to defend the position of people who didn’t play.”
“They brought him [Stephen A.] on and he and Skip debated me about not only players, but it was about the name calling. So, the term bust is a label and Skip was also calling Chris [Bosh] ‘bosh spice’. How that changed the landscape is now they brought Stephen A. back on to be with Skip everyday so people like me wouldn’t come on and be a guest of the show and disagree with him and not take a favorable position to some of the things he might say.”

Rose said he felt the sports media industry had become “more debate, more clickbait, more shock media.”
