Guard Jalen Brunson of the New York Knicks maintained his fantastic season on Tuesday, scoring 45 points in a 128-117 victory over the Chicago Bulls on the road. The win propelled the club to the #3 spot in the Eastern Conference.
His recent stellar performances included back-to-back games with 43 and 45 points, respectively. Tuesday marked his tenth 40-point performance of the season, good for third in franchise history, showing that he is peaking at the ideal moment. 1984–85, Bernard King scored thirteen points or more, while in 1989–90, Patrick Ewing scored eleven.
According to the NBA website, during his previous four games, Brunson has averaged 28.4 points per game. A few weeks have passed since he scorched the San Antonio Spurs with 61 points, a career-best.
Two days after he scored forty-three points against the Milwaukee Bucks, Brunson once again made history on Tuesday by scoring forty-plus points. Brunson’s recent hot streak is much needed for a Knicks club that lost All-Star forward Julius Randle for the entire campaign due to a dislocated right shoulder that necessitated surgery.
Jalen Brunson Led the New York Knicks to 3rd Spot in East
With three games left, the Knicks are only one game behind the Milwaukee Bucks in second place with a 47-32 record despite the absence of Randle. The Knicks need only one more victory (or Miami Heat defeat) to secure a postseason berth (top six in the East), but they haven’t done so inexplicably.
Fans and commentators alike lauded Jalen Brunson’s incredible run, which continued on Tuesday with a 13-of-24 shooting performance (7-of-12 from three, flawless 12-of-12 from the free throw line). Brunson is undoubtedly the driving force behind the Knicks’ success. In addition, he contributed eight assists.
