LeBron is from Akron, Ohio, and has always been an avid supporter of the state’s university and its basketball-related operations. The Lakers star would have enrolled in the University if he hadn’t enrolled in the NBA draft.
He recently gave a shout-out to the latest managerial change at the Ohio State University’s basketball program. Bron expressed his views on the appointment of Jake Diebler as the head coach for Ohio State in his Instagram story.

LeBron James sends congratulatory message to Jake Diebler
The Lakers ace and future Hall of Famer LeBron James recently congratulated the new head coach of the Ohio State University. The Ohio native posted his congratulatory message on his Instagram story in front of his 159 million followers. He shared a post from Ohio State’s official Instagram account, featuring a smiling picture of Diebler with the words “Interim Coach.” However, the word “interim” was crossed out by a red line, announcing Diebler’s promotion.
Along with the post, Bron wrote, “CONGRATS DIEBS!!!!” followed by a few clapping hands emojis. The Lakers star has long been involved with Ohio State and its basketball program. The university has even given Bron a locker in the Value City Arena. King James has also supported Ohio State’s basketball program significantly, providing the team with his edition of Nike gear from time to time.
LeBron was reportedly involved in OSU coaching search
Earlier this month, it was rumored that Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James was involved in the coach hunt for the Buckeyes. It was quite a believable rumor given Bron’s involvement with Ohio State University in the past. The rumors suggested that Bron expressed his desire to see Dusty May, the coach of Florida Atlantic, hired as the next coach for OSU.

If OSU were able to pull the deal off and fulfill Bron’s desire, it was rumored that he would have made a huge donation to the university. It was also rumored that the Lakers star would send his younger son, Bryce James, to attend OSU and play under May. However, the rumor did not turn out to be true as Jake Diebler was recently announced as the new head coach for the college basketball team.
