Michael Jordan celebrated his 60th birthday earlier this week, just ahead of this weekend’s NBA All-Star Game and events being held in Salt Lake City, home of the Utah Jazz. Although MJ is widely considered the G.O.A.T., there is at least one player who is confident he can beat him in a game of one-on-one.
While speaking with reporters during the Rising Stars media availability, Houston Rockets rookie power forward Jabari Smith Jr. was asked if he thinks he could beat Jordan and without hesitation, Smith gave a very confident response.
Jabari is only 19 years old, which makes Jordan more than triple his age, so it would be difficult imagining a scenario where MJ could keep up with the third overall pick in last years NBA Draft. However, this is Michael Jordan, notoriously known for being one of the most competitive athletes in sports history.
Although Jordan probably would not be able to match Smith’s energy levels, whose to say that he wouldn’t be able to hit his patented step-back jumper over his head all day. Many took to Twitter siding with the G.O.A.T. on this one, here are some of their reactions:
