Ja Morant’s old Instagram account has been discovered, and it really gives the impression that the Memphis Grizzlies point guard always wanted to be in dem streets.
Fortunately, that’s not how things unfolded as he’s one of the best players in the NBA and is considered to be the future face of the league. But the 23-year-old seemed keen on destroying all of that when he decided to hit IG Live while gripping a pistol earlier this month.
He has since been reprimanded by both his team and the NBA and also explained his actions (sort of) during an interview with Jalen Rose this week.
A few sports and media personalities have accused Ja of being a “fake thug” and trying to prove he’s “about that life” now that he’s become a multi-million-dollar earner. But, judging from his old IG, it appears the -time All-Star has always tried to portray such a lifestyle.
His posts from 10 years ago show him claiming he “can make cocaine” and would black your eye over disrespect. The guard, who was only 13 years old back then, was spitting about his eyes taking “their clothes off” and being “high af” on that “good kush and alcohol.” He also noted that drug money could buy you what you want. Admittedly, he was not wrong.

It looks like a 13-year-old Ja also had a girlfriend back then as he posted a few photos of a young female who he referred to as his “babe.”
Of course, we aren’t going to judge Ja based on posts he put up 10 years ago. He probably hadn’t even hit puberty back then.
It’s quite likely that every one of us would cringe at our social media activity from when we were 13.
But, given that Ja’s in the spotlight now, things like this will no longer slide by unnoticed.
On another note, the account is already up to 100K followers since it was unearthed less than 24 hours ago.
