Ja Morant has explained what he was doing when he posted these worrying photos to Instagram on Wednesday.
According to TMZ Sports, police officers performed a welfare check on the NBA star after he posted photos of his family to his IG Story along with another saying “Bye” and confirmed the guard was fine and didn’t seem like he was a threat to himself.
Morant is in more hot water with the NBA after yet another gun-related incident, having brandished a firearm in a second IG Live video. He has been suspended by the Memphis Grizzlies and is awaiting punishment from the league, with Nike pulling his shoes off their website too.
Of course, the two-time All-Star can’t be in a great mental space given the above, even if his issues are his own doing. So fans were naturally concerned when he took to the aforementioned platform to share the cryptic posts.
The officers told TMZ the player told them “that he is taking a break from social media,” which seems to be a satisfactory explanation.
Morant hasn’t said much since his second suspension but did issue an apology.

“My words may not mean much right now,” he said, “but I take full accountability for my actions. I’m committed to continuing to work on myself.”
The NBA’s investigations are ongoing, but Commissioner Adam Silver is expected to come down hard on the 23-year-old.
