The Memphis Grizzlies are coming off a challenging season, finishing with a 27-55 record and landing 13th in the Western Conference. Their star player, Ja Morant, gave his all to push the Grizzlies into playoff contention. However, it wasn’t enough, and the team missed the playoffs for the first time since 2020.
Despite the setback, Morant remains confident in the Grizzlies’ potential. During the team’s media day, he expressed his belief that many people have forgotten how good both he and the Grizzlies are.
“Not only me, but you know you don’t hear about the Memphis Grizzlies too much either; that’s what comes with their offer, like it’s putting us right back into uh. The place we need to be, and as you know, the guys that are hunting the other teams,” Morant said.
“I feel like that’s when we’re at our best, so um, not having that pressure of, you know, everybody else trying to put this super high standard on us,” Morant added.
Ja Morant Embraces Happiness Ahead Of Grizzlies’ New Season
Morant understands that dwelling on disappointment won’t help him or the Memphis Grizzlies succeed. During the team’s media day, he claimed that his primary focus this season is to maintain his happiness. Morant, who recently backed Zach Edey, believes that a positive mindset could make him a strong presence on the court.
“Honestly, I’m not even worried about proving them wrong. Like I said, right now I’m happy, and that’s my main focus. I feel like a happy Ja is a scary Ja for a lot of people. So, as long as I stay happy and healthy, it’ll be a great season,” Morant said.

Last season, Morant played only nine games due to his injury and averaged 25.1 points, 5.6 rebounds, and 8.1 assists in those nine games. With the season opener against the Dallas Mavericks approaching, Morant is ready to step up and guide the Grizzlies with renewed vigor.
