In his debut NBA season, Victor Wembanyama showcased a level of play that even seasoned veterans often struggle to achieve. Despite his impressive individual performance, it didn’t necessarily lead to team success. Meanwhile, Paul George had some strong praise for the young star.
During an episode of his podcast, “Podcast P With Paul George,” George issued a stark warning to the NBA about Wembanyama’s potential.
“The way he finished the year, I think, is scary for the league. The momentum he gained at the end of this season is exactly what he needed to transform into a completely different player next season,” George said.
George later also highlighted Wembanyama’s standout performances against teams like the Denver Nuggets and Philadelphia 76ers this season.
“You just look at the game against Denver, the matchup against Philly, he had some really good games to close this year out where it was, like damn, this is what Wemby is.”
Wembanyama, who was selected first overall by the San Antonio Spurs, validated his draft status by earning the 2023–24 Rookie of the Year award. He averaged an impressive 21.4 points and 10.6 rebounds and led the league with 3.6 blocks per game in his rookie season.

Victor Wembanyama Celebrates One-Year Milestone with the Spurs
June 22 officially marks one year since Victor Wembanyama began his journey with the San Antonio Spurs. The young star could not resist himself sharing his joy for his first year with the Spurs.
Wembanyama expressed his excitement on social media, writing, “Happy 1 year anniversary @Spurs” on his X account.
Wembanyama, one of the top seven general talents in Gilbert Arenas’ eyes, is widely regarded as a generational talent. His performance in his rookie season has validated this reputation. However, the Spurs’ disappointing season somewhat overshadowed his impressive individual achievements. The team ended with a 22-60 record, the worst in franchise history.
