The Golden State Warriors are getting ready for their second game of the season against the Utah Jazz after a convincing 139-104 win over the Portland Trail Blazers. The Warriors have been performing well, winning seven straight games, including a perfect 6-0 in the preseason. However, as they prepare to face the Jazz in Utah, there are worries about the availability of key players, especially Stephen Curry.
Curry is crucial for the Warriors, having scored 17 points in their opening game. Unfortunately, he has been listed as questionable due to a right hip contusion, leading to uncertainty about whether he will play tonight against the Jazz.
Alongside Curry, Draymond Green and De’Anthony Melton are also listed as questionable due to their injuries. Green played 20 minutes in the previous game, scoring eight points and grabbing six rebounds, but if he’s unable to play, it would create additional challenges for the team.
On the other hand, the Jazz are looking for their first win of the season after narrowly losing 126-124 to the Memphis Grizzlies. Lauri Markkanen led the Jazz with a fantastic performance, scoring 35 points. He will be a key player for Utah as they aim to secure a win against a Warriors team that may be missing some of its best players.
Warriors Head Coach Steve Kerr has decided to use a 12-man rotation to make the most of the talent available. He originally considered reducing this to 10 players but kept all 12 who performed well in training camp and the preseason.
Warriors Weigh Depth Options As Stephen Curry And Draymond Green’s Status Remains Uncertain
If Curry and Green are unable to play, Kerr might give Brandin Podziemski a chance to start, especially for ball-handling duties. Kevon Looney could also step in to help match up against the Jazz’s size, particularly 7-footer Walker Kessler.

The Warriors have plenty of depth, but losing both Curry and Green would put this strategy to the test. Kerr’s rotation approach indicates that he is ready to adapt if injuries occur. He mentioned, “I was thinking maybe I’ll just play 10, and I’ll have to tell two guys they’re going to sit. I just couldn’t justify that,” explaining his decision to maintain a deep rotation.
With game time approaching, everyone awaits updates on Curry’s condition. The game, set to begin at 7:30 PM MT at the Delta Center, will have all eyes on Stephen Curry to see if he will take the court and continue his strong start to the 2024-25 season.
