The Dallas Mavericks will face the Minnesota Timberwolves this Wednesday at the American Airlines Center in Dallas, Texas. Fans are keen to see if Luka Doncic’s injury status has improved ahead of the game.
Unfortunately for the Mavericks, Doncic remains sidelined for the game against the Timberwolves. The star player has been out of action since Christmas Day, when he injured his left calf during a game against the same opponent.
Despite his absence, recent reports indicate that the Mavericks are hopeful Doncic will return to the court before the All-Star break. Before his injury, Doncic was averaging 28.1 points, 8.3 rebounds, and 7.3 assists over 22 games this season.
The Mavericks are also grappling with additional injuries. Jaden Hardy (right ankle sprain), Dante Exum (recovering from right wrist surgery), and Dwight Powell (right hip strain) have all been ruled out. Meanwhile, Klay Thompson (left ankle sprain), Quentin Grimes (back spasms), Dereck Lively II (right ankle sprain), and Naji Marshall (illness) are listed as questionable for the game.
Chandler Parsons Highlights Mavericks’ Struggles Without Luka Doncic
The Mavs most recently lost 110-105 to the struggling Charlotte Hornets. On FanDuel TV’s Run It Back, former NBA player Chandler Parsons weighed in on the Mavericks’ challenges without Doncic. He compared Doncic’s absence to the Denver Nuggets losing Nikola Jokic to highlight Doncic’s importance to the Mavs team.
“It’s like taking Nikola Jokic off the Nuggets. The Mavericks are drastically worse; they are not that good of a team without Luka Doncic,” Parsons said.
