The Los Angeles Lakers are looking to bounce back after a disappointing 101-93 loss to the Oklahoma City Thunder in their final NBA Cup group-stage game. The loss not only left them with a 2-2 record but also knocked them out of the NBA Cup race. The loss also left fans questioning how the team would respond in their upcoming match against the Utah Jazz.
Ahead of Sunday’s game, the Lakers released their latest injury report, which featured several key players. Jaxson Hayes (ankle), Bronny James (heel), Jarred Vanderbilt (foot), and Christian Wood (knee) are all confirmed to be out. Meanwhile, D’Angelo Russell (illness), Anthony Davis (plantar issue), and Austin Reaves (pelvis) are listed as questionable.
However, there’s some good news for Lakers fans. The 39-year-old superstar is not on the injury report and is expected to play against the Jazz. After a strong start to the season, LeBron’s presence will be crucial as the Lakers aim to regain momentum against the Jazz.
LeBron James Reflects On Lakers’ Struggles After Loss To Thunder
Following their disappointing loss to the Thunder, LeBron James addressed the challenges the Los Angeles Lakers faced during the game. The Thunder’s star duo, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, and Jalen Williams proved too much for the Lakers, especially in critical areas like rebounding and ball control.
“Well, I mean, when you’re shading and helping a lot, especially against Shai and J Dub, they have a numbers game on offensive rebounding, but we got to do a better job of trying to clean glass and do a much better job of not turning the ball over as much,” James said.
James scored 12 points, eight rebounds, and six assists in the loss. Dalton Knecht was the top contributor for the Lakers, adding 20 points. Gilgeous-Alexander scored a game-high 36 points, while Williams finished the game with 19 points.
