The Minnesota Timberwolves vs. New York Knicks game is set to be interesting yet concerning. Other than the question mark on Karl-Anthony Towns, significant injury concerns loom for both teams. The T-Wolves will be taking on the Knicks at Madison Square Garden on January 17.
As per the injury report, Knicks center Towns is listed as questionable to play against his former team due to a sprained right thumb. Towns was injured during a recent loss to the Detroit Pistons. He did not participate in the Knicks’ victory over the Philadelphia 76ers on Wednesday. Unfortunately, he appeared on the bench sporting an Eagles shirt. This could have been Minnesota’s second opportunity to face Towns since the trade, but it seems like Karl-Anthony still has to wait.
On the other hand, Minnesota will be without Donte DiVincenzo for his return to MSG. DiVincenzo is out due to a sprained left big toe. DiVincenzo recently transitioned into the starting lineup and had an impressive performance, scoring a season-high 28 points during the Timberwolves’ narrow defeat to the Golden State Warriors. His absence will be felt as the Timberwolves aim to find consistency and improve their performance following a disappointing loss.

With Mitchell Robinson out for New York, Rudy Gobert and Naz Reid must dominate the paint to create scoring opportunities. However, Minnesota’s inconsistency has been frustrating for fans, as they often show flashes of brilliance followed by long stretches of poor play. A win in New York would not only boost their morale. They will need Anthony Edwards to step up as the clear star of the game.
New York Fans Got Karl-Anthony Towns To Change His Sweater
While Towns was sitting on the bench during the Knicks-76ers game, things went wild. During the matchup, star center Karl-Anthony walked into the Wells Fargo Center wearing a Philadelphia Eagles sweater. This choice of apparel did not sit well with Knicks fans, who quickly took to social media to voice their disapproval.

Recognizing the backlash, Towns opted to change his outfit before the game, swapping the Eagles sweater for a Knicks shirt in a swift move to appease the NYC sports faithful. Despite making the quick change, Towns still found himself in a tough spot with the fans, especially since he was sitting out the game due to a thumb injury.
The Knicks went on to secure a much-needed victory, improving their record to 27-15, but Towns’ earlier choice reminded fans of his ties to Philadelphia. Interestingly, he wasn’t the first Knicks player to show support for the Eagles; Jalen Brunson has previously donned Eagles gear. As the playoffs loom, it seems Knicks fans will have to come to terms with their players’ dual loyalties.
