Minnesota Timberwolves swept the Phoenix Suns on Sunday. The Suns are having a difficult time with fans’ and analysts’ criticism. They have to make some difficult decisions to play better next season. According to Shams Charania of The Athletic, The Suns are considering firing Frank Vogel.
“Sources tell me the Suns will consider a coaching change, at the very least, adjustment to Frank Vogel’s coaching style. Kevin Durant had real issues with the offense, the way it was running, him feeling like he was relegated to being in the corner watching Pick and Rolls by Devin Booker, by Bradley Beal.” Shams Charania of ‘The Athletic’ said.
Vogel previously coached for the Los Angeles Lakers
It is not a complete surprise that Vogel is potentially getting released, especially considering the current situation of the Suns. Despite finishing sixth in the Western Conference, the team has faced difficulties against the third-seeded Timberwolves.
These challenges have been intensified by a series of injuries that they have faced throughout the season. Even though the Suns have three Stars players, Devin Booker, Kevin Durant, and Bradley Beal, they struggled to maintain their level of play this season, resulting in a 49-33 record and a sixth-place finish in the Western Conference.
The limited bench of Phoenix has been a problem, and in spite of their talent, they have not found much cohesiveness on the court beyond their starting guards, Grayson Allen and Jusuf Nurkic. Vogel previously coached for the Los Angeles Lakers, where he helped the team win the title in 2020.
