The Indiana Pacers made a phenomenal run in the post-season tournament despite being swept by the top-seeded Eastern team, Boston Celtics, in the Conference Finals. Now that the tournament is finally coming to an end, the discussions about trade and free agencies are popping up and one of them is regarding Indiana’s Pascal Siakam.
After the 102-105 series-ending defeat, the Pacers forward was asked about his upcoming possible free agency in the post-game press conference. Showing gratitude for his time in the franchise, Siakam said, “All I can say is that it’s been a blessing. I’m really appreciative of everything. I think coming from where I come from, it means a lot. The support I’ve received here is something that I was kind of missing.”
The Cameroonian further added, “Having all that, seeing how the city breathes basketball, and how much support they give to the team, just being here for the home games, it’s incredible. How would you not be a part of that? I’m just really blessed and happy how this has been.”
The Pacers gave a tough fight to the opponents in the playoffs even after losing their All-Star guard Tyrese Haliburton due to a hamstring injury, all thanks to Pascal Siakam, who stepped up to lead the team with his outstanding performances.
Siakam averaged 21.6 points, 7.5 rebounds and 3.8 assists in the 17 playoff games while shooting at 54.1% from the floor. Despite his marvelous efforts, the Indiana franchise lost 4-0 against the Cs, which ended their season.
After seeing his potential, the Pacers would certainly be eager to extend the 30-year-old’s contract.

Pascal Siakam Contract Situation
When the Pacers brought in Pascal Siakam in January, they hadn’t anticipated the huge impact he would have on the inexperienced team. Though he was happy to be a part of the franchise, he didn’t extend his contract immediately as he would have only received an $80 million deal for two years, instead, he was waiting for a bigger deal.
According to Bobby Marks of ESPN, Spicy P is qualified for a $245 million deal with Indiana for five years. However, there has been no further news from his agent regarding his plans.
Siakam has a month to decide whether he wants to extend his contract or enter free agency and sign a new deal with some other franchise if contacted.
