The unexpected midseason trades of Luka Doncic and Anthony Davis have sent shockwaves through the NBA. Even veteran stars, who once believed they had a secure place within their teams, are now feeling the weight of uncertainty. Among them is Minnesota Timberwolves’ rising star Anthony Edwards, who had firsthand experience facing Doncic’s brilliance during their Western Conference Finals battle last season.
Speaking to reporters after the Wolves game on Monday, Edwards couldn’t hide his disbelief at seeing Doncic traded so abruptly. The Mavericks had just reached the NBA Finals, and the Slovenian guard played a pivotal role in their success. For Edwards, the move made no sense.
“That’s crazy. They traded probably the best scorer in the NBA at 25. And he didn’t know about it. There’s a lot more digging somebody has got to do to figure out why he got traded. They just went to the Finals. I feel bad for Luka. That sucks, man,” Edwards said.

The Mavericks had remained quiet about their intentions and then made the move without much public drama. But for Edwards, the sudden trade signaled a harsh reality about the business of basketball. He quickly addressed Timberwolves president Tim Connelly, asking for transparency about his future.
“I’m scared. Tim, if you’re going to trade me, let me know. If Luka can get traded, anybody can get traded at that point,” he added.

Edwards gave it his all on the floor during his 38 minutes of playing time. He put up 21 points, grabbed six rebounds, and dished out four assists. However, his efforts weren’t enough to prevent yet another frustrating loss after loss against the Washington Wizards.
On the other side, DeMar DeRozan proved to be the difference-maker for Sacramento, leading the Kings with a 33-point performance while also securing seven rebounds. With this latest defeat, Minnesota’s season record now stands at 27-23.
