The Minnesota Timberwolves had taken an early lead in the first two games in the semifinal playoff series, however, the Denver Nuggets finally caught them with a 115-107 victory in Game 4. Following the game, the Wolves star Anthony Edwards candidly revealed the verbal exchange he had with Denver’s Jamal Murray.
During the postgame presser when Edwards was asked whether he had any words with Murray at the end of the game, the Wolves guard said, “I just told his a*s, ‘we love that, keep talking that, that’s what we like.’ At least, I love it.” He further added, “He didn’t say nothing back, but I’m pretty sure he heard me. They heard me. We live for that.”
The Nuggets looked determined to even the series following two losses on their home court. They established their supremacy in the opening half by taking a 15-point lead, making it hard for the Minnesota squad to chase in the latter half. Nikola Jokic scored a team-high 35 points and got support from teammates Aaron Gordan and Jamal Murray, who chipped in 27 and 19 points respectively.
Despite Anthony Edwards’ remarkable performance, the Minnesota Timberwolves could not cut the 8-point deficit and ended up with another loss at the Target Center.
Anthony Edwards Shines in Timberwolves Loss
Anthony Edwards dropped yet another masterclass on Sunday night, looking like a threat to the reigning champions. He solely carried the Timberwolves team without getting much offensive help from his teammates.
Edwards put up 44 points on the Wolves’ scoreboard along with 5 rebounds and assists each. The All-Star guard ripped the Denver defense with his 16-of-25 shots from the floor and 5-of-8 from the 3-point range. This is the second time he scored 40+ points in the series and the third time this playoff season.

The Wolves defense appeared stronger in the latter half, but the damage was already done in the first two quarters. Mike Conley Jr. contributed 15 points, Karl-Anthony Towns added 13 points and 12 rebounds, whereas DPOY winner Rudy Gobert scored 11 points and grabbed 14 rebounds for the Wolves.
The Western teams will meet again on Tuesday at the Ball Arena for Game 5 to take the upper hand in the 2-2 series.
