Those familiar with Stephen A. Smith know his playful banter and fearless take on players. The renowned sports analyst recently directed his sharp commentary toward Los Angeles Clippers star Kawhi Leonard.
During his appearance on The OGs Show, Smith made it clear that if he had the power, he would ensure Leonard wouldn’t play for Team USA.
“I’m not letting you play if I’m Steve Ballmer. I will use every means at my disposal to make sure this man ain’t on Team USA,” Smith said.
Smith based his argument on Leonard’s recurring health issues, suggesting that these concerns should keep him off the national team. The boldness of Smith’s claim elicited laughter from the show’s host, Udonis Haslem.
What makes this especially interesting is Smith’s previous interaction with Leonard and former Clippers star Paul George. Smith had dedicated an entire YouTube video to apologizing to George for his earlier, careless words about Leonard.

“I’ve got to give Stephen A. credit. He’s used the fact that McAfee is such a bad team player to his own advantage,” the insider said.
“He brings on only ESPN people; McAfee brings on Shams [Charania]. That’s the kind of thing Stephen A. Smith would never do. He lets Pat McAfee frustrate the ESPN executives so much, they’re like, ‘F–k it. Stephen A. is a good team player,’” he added.
Smith’s previous contract was nearly $12 million annually.
