The Minnesota Timberwolves lost Game 5 of the Western Conference finals series of the playoffs by a score of 103-124 and were eliminated from the championship run. In Game 4, Minnesota made a comeback and boosted everyone’s hopes, but ultimately, they lost the next game. Karl-Anthony Towns, the Timberwolves forward, finished Game 5 with 28 points, two assists, and 12 rebounds. Anthony Edwards, the star player of Minnesota, also contributed 28 points, six assists, and nine rebounds during his 43 minutes of the game.
After the game, Towns spoke at a press conference about his future in Minnesota. He addressed the rumors about next season and clarified that he has been in Minnesota for nine years. He expressed his love for the team and desire to continue playing with his teammates in the coming years.
“I’ve been here nine years, and I would love for the tenure to keep going; I’m confident I’ll be able to be here with my brothers and continue what I love to do here at home. So that’s the plan. Nothing’s changed on my side. I love this city. I love this organization. I love this city. It’s given me my life, me and my family.” Towns said.
“That’s not for me to worry about”
The 28-year-old Minnesota player was further asked about the new ownership for the following year to improve the team’s performance. He replied that it was not his concern as he is a player and will focus on his game.
“That’s not for me to worry about; my job is to go out there every day and do something this summer in the offseason and continue to take steps forward in my game and my mentality, not only as a player but as a person, too.” Towns added
Towns further expressed his excitement for the upcoming season, saying he is looking forward to participating in training camp and conducting interviews.

“Excited to see next season when I walk in for training camp for our first interviews and stuff to not only see the growth for me as a player that I’ll get to showcase throughout the season but the growth of me as a man. I can’t speak on [new ownership]. I can’t control that.”
Towns performed consistently throughout the season, averaging 21.8 points, 8.3 rebounds, and 3.0 assists in 62 games and 18.0 points, 9.1 rebounds, and 2.8 assists in 14 games during the 2024 playoffs. Because of his skills, Shaquille O’Neal and Charles Barkley praised him after game four against Dallas.
