Apart from the disappointment of losing a playoff game, the NBA teams now have to brace themselves for Charles Barkley’s mocking on national television. The New Orleans Pelicans are only one loss away from getting eliminated from the playoff series, and Barkley decided to use their situation to roast them.
However, Barkley’s comment backfired on him, triggering a completely different set of viewers. The Pelicans recently lost their third consecutive game against the New Orleans Pelicans, resulting in Chuck roasting them on air. The NBA icon told the Pels to go to Galveston’s ‘dirty water’, which did not sit well with a lot of people, including Beyonce’s mother, Tina Knowles.
She was not happy with the TNT analyst’s remarks on Galveston, as she belongs there. However, when Charles Barkley learned about this, he immediately apologized to her, along with Beyonce and Jay-Z. “Mrs. Knowles, I do not want that smoke. I don’t want the Beyhive and Jay after me… Let me tell you something: that water is so dirty that I’d rather go to San Antonio with those big ole’ women,” remarked Chuck.
Beyonce’s mother had made it clear that she was joking about her being upset with Chuck’s remarks, but the Hall of Famer decided to come clean anyway. He cleverly used his words to dodge the hate from the Beyhive (Beyonce’s fanbase) and turn the joke onto San Antonio instead.
Charles Barkley is a part of ‘Beyhive’ himself
NBA icon Charles Barkley must have been a bit worried after the comments from Tina Knowles. It is hard to become a target of a megastar’s fanbase, so he resolved the situation later. However, just to make sure that he doesn’t face backlash from Beyonce’s fans, TNT posted a video on their social media accounts reminding the fans that Chuck was a part of Beyhive himself.

During the final months of the regular season, Barkley was on air with the usual Inside the NBA crew when he let his inner Beyonce fanboy out. Chuck noticed country music playing in the background during a game’s halftime. The Hall of Famer immediately got excited and let his inner fanboy out. He dropped some information about Beyonce’s upcoming album and also showed his enthusiasm for Beyonce’s ‘Texas Hold ’em’, which was playing in the background.
