Former NBA star Dwight Howard recently revealed his career regrets, including the LA Lakers. The 8-time All-Star wished he could revisit his past and make changes to avoid one of the biggest mistakes of his career.
Howard brought up the topic on the latest episode of his “Above The Rim with DH 12” podcast. Recalling his decision in 2013, the veteran said, “It was real emotional, and I heard that wasn’t good. They said Kobe [Bryant] said he wanted me to stay, but I don’t know, I don’t know. I wish I could go back and be like, let me make this decision wisely, weigh everything out. I don’t think I weighed my decision really well at the time. My emotions got the best of me.”
Before joining the Purple and Gold, Howard spent eight seasons with the Magic, hoping to bag the championship trophy. He took the same hopes to LA in 2013 with the excitement of sharing the locker room with Kobe Bryant. However, that turned out to be a disappointment.
Being from opposite poles, Howard’s pairing with the Black Mamba did not work out as the franchise had anticipated. Following Bryant’s Achilles injury, the team couldn’t impress in their post-season run and finished the season with empty hands. Displeased with his first-year experience, the big man decided to decline the Lakers’ deal and find his new home at the Rockets.
However, that was not the end of his chapter with the LA side. Howard returned years later, in 2019, to add the championship title to his name.
This is not the only truth bomb he dropped in recent times. Howard even spoke about a famous narration by Celtics members.

Dwight Howard Raises Championship Query Between Boston And Lakers
Following the Cs championship crowning, the Lakers supporters are disheartened. With a heavy heart, Dwight Howard shared a claim by one of his former teammates.
Howard wrote on X (FKA Twitter), “I had a teammate that won with the Lakers & Celtics that told me that’s it’s nothing like winning a championship in Boston and Now Al just said the same thing. I want to know what’s the difference lol.”
Though Howard did not disclose who this teammate was, many assumed it was the 4-time All-Star Rajon Rondo. Even Al Horford talked about it after winning the title with the Celtics.
Following his exit from the league, Howard will be seen participating in The Asian Tournament, dressed up for the Taiwan Mustangs.
