Besides LeBron James, the star name that had all eyes on him during the offseason was Clippers’ Paul George. Due to his uncertain future with his team, PG-13 was linked with other franchises. Unsatisfied with the Clippers’ three-year offer, the 34-year-old entered free agency. There were contenders waiting in line to acquire him and he decided to settle with the Philadelphia 76ers. Following the confirmation of the news, a tweet from the Eastern franchise’s center Joel Embiid emerged on social media, surprising the NBA community.
The Cameroonian wrote on X (formerly known as Twitter), “I wanna troll so bad but there’s literally no sports on right now”. However, it wasn’t clear what Embiid was aiming at.
The Sixers reportedly made an offer of four years worth $212 million which George couldn’t turn down.
On the flip side, the Warriors were hoping to hear a positive response from George. It could very well be assumed that Embiid was hinting at his troll-worthy comment to the Clippers who were confident that George wouldn’t leave or the GSW who thought they could grab the opportunity. Rumors even rose that George shared a common interest in the successful Western team.
Paul George Wanted to Join Warriors
The Warriors were reportedly inches close to locking their deal with Paul George, however, the tides turned at the end moment.
After a rocky season, the Warriors had to part ways with Klay Thompson. To replace their star they were planning to add George to their roster which would’ve helped them strengthen both ends of the court.

They were on the verge of getting the Clippers in terms with them and had lined up the trades that would’ve eased their tight cap space. But disaster struck when George’s deadline hit and he opted out as a free agent with the Clippers having no rights to him.
Lured by the Sixers’ offer, George planned on moving to the other side of the conference table. The veteran’s presence could be the final piece that the Sixers were missing for so long.
