Buddy Hield recently joined the Golden State Warriors on a two-year, $21 million sign-and-trade deal. Before appearing on the court donning Warriors jersey, Hield shares his excitement of teaming up with Curry to add more veteran experience from the Warriors star.
“I wanna go there and win and try to get them back on top. Being with Steph I’ll be able to [watch & learn from him],” Hield said.
The Warriors recently lost their star, Klay Thompson, after negotiations stalled between the parties. Now, the addition of Hield is surely a win for Golden State in free agency. The former Philadelphia 76ers star player has hit 200-plus 3-pointers in six straight seasons.
Buddy Hield Shares the Reason for Joining the Warriors
The Golden State Warriors are determined to re-enter the title race after missing the playoffs last season. With Klay Thompson’s absence leaving a significant gap, the team was looking for a reliable perimeter shooter. They found their man in Buddy Hield, who recently transitioned from the Philadelphia 76ers to the Warriors.
Hield expressed his reason for joining the Warriors during an interview with BasketNews in Valencia, Spain.
“It seemed like a perfect fit. Growing up, watching their style of play. The way they coach, the players around them – Steph [Curry], Draymond [Green], [Andrew] Wiggins. The style of play that Steph has,” he said.

“”Even watching Klay Thompson. I was always a big fan of his, and I always ask [his] advice. Just seeing the dynasty they had and the way they play, I feel like that suits my game more,” he added.
The Warriors have yet to publicly announce the Hield trade. According to Yahoo Sports, it will become official once the league’s moratorium on signings is lifted.
