In a recent episode of the First Take show, Kendrick Perkins, an ex-professional basketball player and currently a sports analyst for ESPN, was asked about his opinion on who would win if the Los Angeles Lakers faced off against the Golden State Warriors in the play-in tournament of the 2023-24 NBA season.
Kendrick Perkins says he trusts the Lakers more than the Warriors in the Western Conference. Perkins believes the Lakers will take it over the Warriors if they meet in the Play-in.
“I’m going with the Lakers; I’m going with LeBron James; I trust LeBron James more than I trust Steph Curry; more than I trust Klay Thompson; more than I trust Andrew Wiggins; hell, more do I trust his own teammates than Anthony Davis, and that’s saying a lot. LeBron James, when it comes down to having that IQ to understand the moment, he’s going to take you to the finish line.” Perkins said this during the interview.

Los Angeles Lakers have two more games left to play
Sacramento and Golden State have their last two games at home, while the Lakers are at a disadvantage as they have no tiebreakers against either team. Therefore, they need to overcome both teams to secure the eighth spot.
Although possible, it will be difficult as the Kings play Portland at home in their final game, while the Warriors finish with a home game against the Utah Jazz.

The Lakers have two more games to play against Memphis and New Orleans. They are tied with the Golden State Warriors at 45-35 and are in the tenth-seed spot in the Western Conference.
Despite losing their last two games, they hold the final play-in position. If they win their next two games, they might move up to the seventh seed, but if they slip up, they could miss out on the postseason journey. Being placed ninth or tenth would only give them one chance to progress.
