Famous sports analyst Stephen A. Smith recently drew attention for his sincere apologies to those he has wronged. After apologizing to Draymond Green and Kyrie Irving, Smith has extended his remorse to Los Angeles Clippers’ star guard Paul George.
Stephen A. Smith shared a video titled “Paul George, I apologize” on his YouTube channel, which lasted 10 minutes and 46 seconds. In this video, he admitted to a lapse in judgment, particularly regarding his comments about George’s teammate, Kawhi Leonard.
“When you’re right, you’re right. Paul George is right. Here’s where it really hits home. I put him in a bad spot. That’s Kawhi Leonard’s teammate. And it was the furthest thing from my mind,” Smith said.
The need for this apology arose after Smith put George in an awkward position during NBA Finals coverage. Smith made critical remarks about Kawhi Leonard while Paul George was on set.
“Nobody on this planet knows what it’s like to play without a star like Paul George, I’ll leave it at that!” Smith remarked during the pregame coverage of Game 3 of the NBA Finals.

“I didn’t like that moment. I rock with Stephen A. obviously, but just let it go. Kawhi wants to play; I will keep beating that over the head until I’m out of breath. He wants to play. (Smith) keeps making it something like Kawhi doesn’t want to play or he doesn’t want to be there. I think we rode Kawhi a lot this year to where it kind of got to the point of, ‘There’s only so much my body can take right now,’” he said.
“I didn’t appreciate that moment. I know I laughed just because of the situation; it was light-hearted. But deep down, it was just like, ‘man, you gotta let that go, Stephen A,’” he added.
George explained that he initially laughed at Smith’s comment to keep the show’s atmosphere light. Nevertheless, deep down, he was unhappy with his teammate’s harassment.
