Much credit goes to Luka Doncic for the Dallas Mavericks’ success. He led the team from the fifth seed in the NBA Western Conference to their opponent, the Minnesota Timberwolves, in the West finals. However, this accomplishment has converted many skeptics to believers, including Dwight Howard, the three-time NBA Defensive Player of the Year.
Howard plays basketball abroad and hosts his podcast, “Above the Rim.” Also, he has been occupying his off-court time, hoping to get another chance at the NBA. The eight-time NBA All-Star acknowledged in one of the episodes that he is one of his detractors, mostly stating that he shouldn’t be considered for MVP.
Nevertheless, Howard is confident that Luka Doncic should have been considered for the MVP award. His statement came after the Mavericks jumped out to an early 1-0 lead over the Timberwolves in the series.
Dwight Howards said at 26:11: “First, I gotta say is, Luka, I am sorry. Listen, brother. I made a mistake as I counted you out. I wasn’t familiar with your game. Was not familiar with what you been doing but as far as MVP, you are showing it. I’m sorry for that man, ’cause you kill it, bro.”
However, the podcast segment also included Luka Doncic’s 2023–24 regular season statistics, which included near triple-double averages of 33.9 points, 9.8 rebounds, and 9.2 assists.

Doncic was named to his sixth All-NBA First Team this season. He joins Jayson Tatum, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Giannis Antetokounmpo, and reigning MVP Nikola Jokic. The All-NBA accolades have been revealed.

The 25-year-old guard may now sign a supermax agreement with the Dallas Mavericks and earn up to $70 million in a single season. As ESPN expert Bobby Marks has said, this agreement may be worth up to $346.3 million.
However, he has not yet completed seven years of NBA service; thus, this deal cannot be signed until 2024. Nevertheless, despite being selected All-NBA in two of his final three seasons as a Mavs player, the earliest Luka Doncic can sign the deal is in 2025.
