Beginning in the fourth quarter of Game 3 between the Mavericks and LA Clippers, PJ Washington in Dallas quickly became a cult hero. After a confrontation with Clippers guard Terance Mann, Washington struck a stance that went viral right after.
Amidst the chaos surrounding him, he sat with his legs shoulder-width apart, his arms folded, and a sarcastic expression as he gazed at LA’s bench.
PJ Washington explained to ESPN’s Tim McMahon why he thought of the idea for the well-known taunting of the Clippers after the game. Mann was mad that I was looking at their bench, he informed the reporter. He didn’t give up on the posture that made him so successful; instead, he said, “So I decided to look at it again.”
He added, “I just wanted to try to make a statement and just stand on business.”.
A former forward for the Charlotte Hornets, he stood on business against the Thunder in the semifinal. PJ Washington occasionally took on Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and assisted in slowing down Jalen Williams. Ultimately, Washington’s free throws proved to be the decisive point that eliminated Oklahoma.
PJ Washington Needs to Be There for the Mavericks as They Play Against the Timberwolves Next
Jason Kidd knows that defeating the Minnesota Timberwolves will require the Dallas Mavericks to play with all available players. To beat another team with a better ranking, PJ Washington will be expected to be a member of a team that plays with precision on both sides of the court.

Washington will have the difficult task of defending Karl-Anthony Towns and, in some instances, Anthony Edwards in the West Finals. PJ Washington will be undersized against the 7-foot, 250-pound Karl Anthony-Towns since Minnesota prefers to deploy a double-center frontline. However, as seen by his successful playoff debut this year, he will welcome the challenge.
Luka Doncic will continue to trust him to make big shots from beyond the arc in offensive plays. During the Clippers series, Washington shot 31.3% from beyond the arc; against the Thunder, they increased it to 46.9%. Amazingly, he has developed into Dallas’ top shooter.
