During a recent interview with “Vogue,” Angel Reese, a star player for LSU women’s basketball, declared on Wednesday that she will be entering the WNBA draft this month.
Reese guided the Tigers to a national championship the previous year. His final college season ended on Monday night with a loss to Iowa in the NCAA tournament’s Elite Eight.
“I’ve done everything I wanted to in college,” I’ve won a national championship. I’ve gotten SEC player of the year. I’ve been an all-American. My ultimate goal is to be a pro — and to be one of the greatest basketball players to play, ever. I feel like I’m ready.” Reese said in the interview in Vogue.
Before the 2022–2023 season, the forward transferred to the Tigers and had a significant impact. As the program won its first national championship, she averaged 23.0 points and 15.4 rebounds, earning the title of Most Outstanding Player of the NCAA tournament.
Angel Reese’s game still had several obvious weaknesses
Following that victory, Reese appeared to be an easy pick for the lottery in 2024. Reese’s junior campaign production was not comparable to hers. Reese averaged 18.6 points and 13.4 rebounds per game for LSU, which concluded with a 31-6 record. In women’s college basketball, Reese is ranked second in NIL value after only Clark.

That could be due to LSU head coach Kim Mulkey adding Aneesah Morrow and Hailey Van Lith to her roster, as well as bringing in Mikaylah Williams, one of the best recruits in the 2023 class. Her Hoop Stats show that Reese’s usage rate of 26.9 percent was a personal low.
More importantly, Reese’s game still had several obvious weaknesses. She has a limited scoring range at a time when WNBA clubs are more interested in floor space than ever before, having made only 5-of-32 three-pointers in her career.
