During a recent episode of the show “Undisputed,” the host, Skip Bayless, asked about former NBA player Paul Pierce’s reaction to the Minnesota Timberwolves’ game seven win against the Denver Nuggets in the Western Conference Semi-final Playoffs.
In response, Pierce said he was completely shocked after the T-Wolves eliminated the Nuggets. He mentioned that he thought Denver would win the decider, but the opposite happened.
“Well, I am in complete shock; I never thought Denver would lose three games at home in one series. Let’s start right there, and then you have game seven, where you’re up by at least 20 at some point in the game. Full crowd control is into it. I’m like, oh okay, Denver is just going to win in blowout fashion.” Pierce said.
Needed one X factor on Road: Pierce
Pierce has consistently praised Minnesota’s defense as the best in the NBA throughout the year. Despite Jamal Murray scoring 35 points and Nikola Jokic scoring 34 points, he mentioned that Denver still needed an X factor to win that game in the playoffs.
“They’re up 15 at the half, and then after that, the offense disappears, you know, and you say collapse by Denver, but a lot of this is what Minnesota did, being that they were or are the number one defense in the NBA all year. They have the defensive player of the year, so that played a factor when you saw the Denver Nuggets come out and score 14 points in the third quarter… you need one X factor on the road when you are going deep in the playoffs.” Pierce added.
Game 1 of the Western Conference Finals between the Mavericks and the Timberwolves is scheduled for this Thursday at the Target Center. It will be an exciting matchup, with fans looking forward to seeing the tough battle between Minnesota’s Anthony Edwards and the duo of Doncic and Irving.
