The Lakers finally picked Bronny James at No.55 in the 2024 NBA Draft, ending months-long speculations. While many accused the move to be a result of nepotism, the Lakers GM Rob Pelinka explained their decision behind drafting Bronny.
“NBA history could be made, and NBA history should be made in a Lakers uniform,” Pelinka said after the draft. Highlighting Bronny’s “high character” and work ethic, Pelinka added, “He had a great draft workout with us where he displayed those qualities to me.”
Pelinka also highlighted that newly appointed coach JJ Redick is already excited about putting a developmental plan around James Jr. to make him an impactful player for the franchise.
Bronny only worked out with the Suns and the Lakers heading into the draft, and rumors about multiple other teams were circulating. But on Thursday, all those speculations were proved wrong, as LeBron’s son will now get a chance to create history alongside his father.
Former NBA Executive Reveals Explosive Truth About Bronny James
During the NBA Draft Night 2, former Warriors‘ executive Bob Myers was present on ESPN’s broadcasting panel. Hours leading up to the draft, Myers revealed startling information.
“Rich Paul’s calling teams and saying, ‘Don’t take Bronny James,’” Myers said. “He’s telling them, ‘Do not take them.’ OK? He’s saying, ‘Don’t take him. If you take him he’s going to Australia. So he has a plan and he has a place.”

This comes as contrasting intel as only a few days ago Rich Paul went on the record and said that Bronny only wants to get drafted.
Nevertheless, Bronny got his wish as he will now join his illustrious father in the threads of Gold and Yellow. How JJ Redick uses Bronny remains to be seen, but one can expect to see a lot of the Bronny-LebBron tandem next season.
