Bronny James could not prove his draft pick with the Los Angeles Lakers as worthy in the Summer League games. Unfortunately, even Boston Celtics star Jaylen Brown did not see much potential in LeBron James’ son, as he was caught making negative remarks on the Lakers’ rookie during his appearance in the Summer League game between the Boston Celtics and Los Angeles Lakers.
Brown’s take recently drew attention from Gilbert Arenas, who directly blasted Boston’s star. Arenas put forward Brown’s stats during his first three NBA games to compare them with Bronny.
“He [Brown] was the 3rd pick in the NBA Draft. The first 3 games, just like Bronny. Bronny was 6-26, and Jaylen Brown was 5-26 in his first 3 games in summer league,” Arenas said.
In the game, Brown was present; LeBron James’ son added two points, three rebounds, and one assist in the Laker’s 88-74 loss. In his debut Summer League game, Bronny scored 4 points with 2 rebounds and 2 assists. Fans were pissed off when he recorded 3 points, 5 rebounds, and 3 assists as the Lakers lost 80-76 in his second NBA game.
Gilbert Arenas Defends Bronny James’ Draft
It’s not the first time that Gilbert Arenas has come forward to support Bronny James’ draft. During his interview on ‘Vlad TV,’ Gilbert Arenas made a compelling argument regarding the criticism directed at Bronny James.
According to Arenas, the scrutiny Bronny faces does not primarily stem from his basketball skills or draft position. Instead, Arenas suggested that much of the criticism originates from the insecurities of other fathers who feel overshadowed by LeBron James’ prominence in basketball.

“The issue is not, the issue is really not Bronny James being picked 55. It’s not. It’s father’s mad. If you’re a male and you’re a father and you’re mad… you’re more mad that this father did something for a son that you didn’t do for yours,” Arenas said, per Fadeway World.
The scrutiny that Bronny gathered in his rookie season is expected due to his less-than-stellar resume in college. Nevertheless, his superstar father already claimed that the negative remarks will not bother his son.
