On Saturday, Anthony Edwards took the game by the scruff of its neck and powered the Timberwolves to a 106-99 win over the reigning NBA champions, Denver Nuggets. Ant-Man has been in fiery form in the playoffs and the Nuggets found out exactly why many, including Michael Jordan, believe he is a mirror image of a young MJ.
Dirk Nowitzki was present on the set of NBA On TNT to dissect the game, and he was more than impressed to see Anthony Edwards’ blistering performance. Talking about it, Nowitzki said, “Honestly, he just kept on doing what he was doing early on. Attacking and also he had a good rhythm all night long. Doing it all…He’s the complete package.”
The 22-year-old brought out his A-game against the Nuggets and scored a game-high 43 points. His immaculate 17-29 shooting, 7 rebounds, and 3 assists were enough to drive his teammates to secure the game late in the fourth quarter.
Everyone praised the Timberwolves guard, and even his opponent, Nikola Jokic, shared his complimentary words for Anthony Edwards.
Nikola Jokic Salutes Anthony Edwards Performance
Nikola Jokic performed to his usual high standards in game 1 of the playoff round 2 series. Despite the loss, the center managed to score 32 points but was hounded masterfully by the Timberwolves’ defense to cause any further trouble.
After the game, when Jokic was asked about what he made of his opponent of the night, Anthony Edwards, the Serbian only had encouraging things to say. “To be honest, he’s a special player. I have huge respect for him; he can do everything on the floor. You need to give him respect for how good and how talented he is.”

Anthony Edwards also returned the favor by labeling Jokic “the best player in the world” in the post-game press conference. The duo will collide again on Monday at the Ball Arena, and surely, Nikola Jokic will be doubly determined to score a win and level the series.
