Stan Van Gundy, a former NBA head coach and analyst, referred to Luka Doncic as the league’s finest offensive player ever. Van Gundy stated that he only discusses offense and does not imply that Luka is the best player ever.
“I think the best offensive player now that I’ve ever seen is Luka Doncic… I did see MJ. I don’t think there’s anything the guy can’t do offensively. He’s huge, he’s 6’8″, and big. But strictly as an offensive player, I think he’s the best I’ve ever seen.” Stan Van Gundy said.
Luka Doncic, who has been outstanding all season long, is a latecomer to the MVP discussion despite averaging 33.9 points, 9.2 rebounds, and 9.8 assists, according to the NBA website. He’s also sure to win his first scoring championship in the NBA. Luka’s Mavericks aim to earn 50+ victories for the second time in his career and clinch the No. 5 seed.
After being criticized for failing to mention the former player, Van Gundy explained his ranking of Doncic as a superior offensive talent to LeBron James and Michael Jordan.
“Jordan wasn’t a bad passer, but he wasn’t Luka Doncic as a passer. He did not have Luka’s size or strength. I’m not trying to demean Michael Jordan in any way or LeBron James, but Luka Doncic is a different level to me offensively.” He clarified.

Luka Doncic Is in Contention for the NBA MVP Award
Luka Doncic has a strong argument since, throughout the season, he became the player in the modern period with the greatest average of total points, rebounds, and assists. Doncic’s case has been minimized by pointing out the Mavs’ record compared to Shai and Jokic.
Still, despite having one of the most injury-prone supporting casts in the West this season, he is expected to finish 5-7 wins behind both players.
Wearing ‘Pravi MVP’ (True MVP) t-shirts at the shootaround before their game against the Miami Heat, the Mavericks organization has advocated for Luka’s MVP case to be acknowledged. Their official social media accounts and Mark Cuban’s personal Twitter have relentlessly pushed Luka’s MVP case.
Jokic seems to be winning his third MVP award in a short while, as Shai Gilgeous-Alexander will probably finish third, and Doncic’s late-season surge isn’t enough to move him up from No. 3.
