During a post-game interview, Michael Malone, head coach for the Denver Nuggets, praised Nikola Jokic, the star player of the Denver Nuggets, for his outstanding performance against the Los Angeles Lakers in game one on Saturday.
“32 points? Is that just a run-of-the-mill? But what was really impressive, obviously, was the 32, the 12 boards, seven assists, and the two steals; he had a big steam late. How many dunks did he have tonight? that’s a big time, we should be giving away free gifts or something like that so. Nikola [Jokic] is a great player; the bigger the stage, the brighter the lights; he just continues to shine,” Head coach Michael Malone said during the interview.

On Saturday, the Denver Nuggets, who are the reigning champions, won the first game of their NBA playoff first-round series against the Los Angeles Lakers. The final score was 114-103, and the Nuggets were led by Nikola Jokic’s 32 points.
Despite the Lakers being a club loaded with celebrities, they had lost all three regular-season games against the Nuggets. Jokic’s game-winning three-pointer extended the Nuggets’ lead to 103–93, and he added a slam over LeBron James. James remained in the game until the end despite suffering a hard fall with one minute left.
Anthony Davis scored 32 points with the help of James’ 27 points. Two other Nuggets players also had double-doubles: Aaron Gordon had 12 points and 11 rebounds, while Jamal Murray had 22 points and 10 assists.
