The Timberwolves march on in their postseason conquest after a sweeping series win against the Suns. Anthony Edwards was a real difference-maker for his side and after the game, his teammate Karl-Anthony Towns reaffirmed the 22-year-old’s status in the league.
Speaking in the post-game press conference, Towns without hesitation said, “He’s the face of the league, I been saying that. He hate when I say it but it’s true.” Ant-Man at first contested the claim the Timberwolves center made, but Towns was adamant and jokingly said that he wears sunglasses around Edwards because of his bright future.
There wasn’t probably any over-exaggeration in what Towns said apart from the sunglass bit. Anthony Edwards is averaging 31 points per game in the postseason so far after a smashing 40-point performance on Sunday night. His 8 rebounds, 6.3 assists 2 steals per game, and numerous dunks in the series kept the balance well in favor of the Minnesota team throughout the series against the Suns.
But Anthony Edwards was not only soaking in the applause of his colleague, but he also made sure to pass on the encouragement in the opposite direction.
Anthony Edwards Highlights Karl-Anthony Towns’ Importance
Following their first-round win against the Phoenix Suns, Anthony Edwards made a huge statement highlighting the importance that his teammate Karl-Anthony Towns will hold in the upcoming playoff series.
Making the opponents cautious about the Wolves C, Edwards said, “If he’s not in foul trouble, he is a problem for any team that gotta guard us because he stretches the floor, he can post, he can play off the catch and he can pass. I mean he can do everything.”

Although Edwards is leading the team’s offense, he is well aware of Towns’ diverse talents and the impact he can have on a game. In the post-season tournament, Towns is averaging 19.3 points, 9.5 rebounds, and 2.5 assists.
The Minnesota squad is keeping an eye on the LA Lakers and Denver Nuggets fixture, as the winner of that series will be pitted against them in the second round of playoffs in May.
