Ja Morant was not listening to his teammates and now he is in trouble because of it.
The team held a players-only meeting recently, according to The Athletic’s Shams Charania, in which Steven Adams addressed the team’s road problems, He did not call out Ja Morant specifically, but it was obvious who he was speaking about.
“I’m told there was a players only meeting where Steven Adams, their veteran center, he spoke out about how the team needs to show better discipline on the road,” Charania said on FanDuel TV’s “Run it Back” on Monday. “They need to stay away from going out when they’re on the road.”
Memphis currently sits in second in the Western Conference at 38-25, however, they have struggled when away from the confines of FexExForum to the tune of a 12-20 road record.
“I’m told those in the room, when Steven Adams spoke out, they knew exactly who he was directing this to,” Charania reported. “It was no one other than Ja Morant.”
Morant is currently in the midst of a minimum two-game suspension that was imposed by the team after the gun incident in the club after the team lost to the Denver Nuggets.

In the meantime, police in Colorado said Monday they are investigating Ja Morant’s actions from the weekend after the Memphis Grizzlies star posted a gun at a nightclub. NBA rules prohibit a player from possessing a firearm while on team property or traveling on team business, so he may be facing severla issues with this one incidnet.
Morant is away from the team as the NBA conducts its investigation. Memphis plays the Lakers in Los Angeles on Tuesday night.
