Days after signing All-Star guard Kyrie Irving to a three-year extension worth $126 million, the Dallas Mavericks have made another blockbuster move.
According to Shams Charania of The Athletic and Stadium, the Mavericks are acquiring veteran forward Grant Williams in a three-team trade with the Boston Celtics and San Antonio Spurs. In return, the Celtics are getting multiple second-round picks, while the Spurs are getting Reggie Bullock and a pick swap with Dallas in 2030.
Charania added that Williams will be signing a four-year, $54 million contract with the Mavs as part of a sign-and-trade deal.
Boston drafted the Tennessee product 22nd overall back in 2019. Williams is coming off the best statistical season of his career in which he averaged 8.1 points, 4.6 rebounds and 1.7 assists per game. Williams was a starter in 23 of the 79 games he suited up for last season.
In Bullock, the Spurs land a serviceable veteran who will address the need for scoring depth around first overall pick Victor Wembanyama. The 32-year-old Bullock averaged 7.2 points, 3.6 rebounds and 1.4 assists per game for the Mavericks last season.
