Week 6 of NBA basketball is done and the standings of both the Eastern and Western conferences are beginning to take shape.
Even with injuries to a few stars, the contenders continued to win games and the lowly teams haven’t found a successful formula to end their woes.
Today, we will be grading all 30 NBA teams in week 6 of NBA basketball.
Atlanta Hawks: C- (Last Week C+)
This was a tough week for the Hawks. While their scoring has been up, they failed to muster a win against top-tier teams in the East. They need to figure something out in order to win some games this month.
Boston Celtics: A+ (Last Week A-)
The Celtics are back to their winning ways, going 3-0 this past week. They easily dispatched the Hawks and the Bulls before overcoming a scare against the Joel Embiid-less Sixers. They now sit at the top of the Eastern Conference.

Brooklyn Nets: B (Last Week C-)
Brooklyn went 3-1 this past week and has looked impressive on the court. Cam Thomas is back and balling but Mikal Bridges is the true star of the team. Even without the declining Ben Simmons, they remain a dangerous foe.
Charlotte Hornets: D (Last Week C)
Without LaMelo Ball, the Hornets barely made it out in week 6. They had a pretty tough schedule and it resulted in a 1-3 week. Miles Bridges has been impressive since his return but without LaMelo, their ceiling as a team is quite low.
Chicago Bulls: C (Last Week D)
After going 2-2, this is somewhat of a good week for Chicago. They somehow outplayed the Bucks without some of their superstars and also scored a win against the Pelicans. Can they sustain their recent success? That’s a hard question to answer.
Cleveland Cavaliers: B (Last Week B-)
Cleveland took care of business against lower-tier teams but inexplicably lost to the hapless Blazers this past week. They went 3-1 and things are looking up for them as of late. Mitchell is struggling a little bit but his teammates are helping him out.
Dallas Mavericks: B- (Last Week B)
The only bright news for Dallas this week is the birth of Luka’s first daughter. As with their play? It’s highly forgettable. They lost to the cellar-dwelling Grizzlies and failed to execute down the stretch against OKC despite going on a historic 30-0 run in the fourth quarter. They look extremely lost.
Denver Nuggets: B+ (Last Week B-)
After a disappointing week 5, the Nuggets went on a tear this past week. They went 4-1 and could’ve easily gone 5-0 had they executed well down the stretch against the Kings. Jokic is having another MVP-caliber season.
Detroit Pistons: D- (Last Week D-)
Where do we begin? The Pistons failed to register a single win in the month of November. They are on a historically ugly losing streak right now. The team is healthy but it looks like their problem is largely attributed to their coaching staff.
Golden State Warriors: C- (Last Week C+)
This team is slowly fading away right before our eyes. They are competitive but it feels like their previous dominance has left them for good. There are also rumblings about Wiggins being out of shape since training camp.
Houston Rockets: C (Last Week B)
After a fiery start in November, things have cooled down for the Rockets lately. They failed to register a single win this past week and now have fallen drastically in the standings.
Indiana Pacers: B (Last Week B)
The Pacers are in a mini slump this past week but there’s no doubt that they could turn things around sooner. Haliburton is probably the best point guard in the East right now and it’s hard to bet against him or his team.
Los Angeles Clippers: B (Last Week B)
When James Harden is engaged, the Clippers are hard to beat. The problem is that he is no longer capable of sustaining his fine play like he did a few years ago. They went 2-2 this past week, winning against the Kings and the Warriors.
Los Angeles Lakers: B (Last Week B+)
The Lakers suffered a couple of humiliating losses this past week and one of them was a 44-point beatdown against the Sixers. They managed to keep afloat with wins against the lowly Pistons and the struggling Rockets.
Memphis Grizzlies: D+ (Last Week D)
Going 2-2 in week 6 is considered a win for the Grizzlies this season. Jaren Jackson Jr. is playing well as of late and that’s a major plus for them. But in all honesty, even with Ja Morant coming back in a few weeks, this feels like a lost season for the franchise.
Miami Heat: B (Last Week B)
The Heat are in a bit of a slump recently but one positive note about the team is the emergence of rookie Jaime Jaquez Jr., aka ‘Juan Wick.’ He’s been great for the Heat and is already looking like the steal of the draft.
Milwaukee Bucks: A (Last Week A)
The Bucks are for real. They may have lost to the Bulls this past week but they are on a tear recently. Their defense may have taken a hit this year but they are scoring at will and asserting their dominance on the offensive end.
Minnesota Timberwolves: A+ (Last Week A+)
The Timberwolves went 4-0 this past week and continued to sit at the top of the Western Conference standings for a second week in a row. The bad news is that Anthony Edwards may miss a few weeks because of an injury.
New Orleans Pelicans: B (Last Week B+)
The Pelicans are thriving against good teams but somehow lost to the undermanned Jazz and the Bulls to go 2-2 this past week. CJ McCollum is finally back and they should be able to start a winning streak with a lighter schedule ahead.
New York Knicks: B+ (Last Week B+)
The Knicks could’ve gone 4-0 this past week if it wasn’t for a Devin Booker game-winning three at MSG. But don’t fret as going 3-1 ain’t bad at all. This team looks much more dangerous compared to where they were last season.
Oklahoma City Thunder: A (Last Week B+)
The Thunder went 2-1 this past week with wins against the Mavs and the Lakers. Chet Holmgren and Shai Gilgeous-Alexander are balling right now. The scary part about them is that they’ve already found success despite being a relatively young team.
Orlando Magic: A+ (Last Week A+)
This young Magic team is a legitimate threat in the East this season. The Wagner brothers are tough to deal with and Paolo Banchero is slowly becoming a complete player in just his second season in the league.
Philadelphia 76ers: B- (Last Week B)
Without Embiid and Maxey, the Sixers struggled tremendously in week 6 of basketball. They only went 1-2 this past week but the good news is that they have a fairly easy schedule to start the month of December.
Phoenix Suns: A (Last Week A+)
After going 4-0 last week, the Suns only compiled a 2-2 record this week. They lost to the Raptors and the surging Nuggets but took care of business against the Knicks and the Grizzlies.
Portland Trail Blazers: C (Last Week D-)
The Blazers somehow managed to pull off a 2-2 record this past week despite their atrocious season. They won against good teams too like the Pacers and the Cavs. Have they figured out something that we don’t know?
Sacramento Kings: A (Last Week A)
The Kings are slowly proving that their success last season was not a fluke. This is a high-quality team with big aspirations and dreams. They are looking like contenders right now and that’s quite a jump in their resume as a franchise.
San Antonio Spurs: D- (Last Week D-)
The Spurs have not won a game in over a month now. Wembanyama has played well but they are still losing at an alarming rate. They often have good starts but quickly falter whenever the second half rolls around.
Toronto Raptors: C (Last Week B)
The Raptors did not have a great week. Sure, they won against the Suns but they failed to do so against the Cavs, the Nets and the Knicks. They don’t have a solid identity right now and this may haunt them for the rest of the season.
Utah Jazz: D+ (Last Week D-)
With all the injuries this team is having right now, it’s amazing to see that they went 2-2 this past week. No Markkanen and Clarkson but their bench guys played through adversity. That’s a win in anybody’s book.
Washington Wizards: D (Last Week D-)
Washington only went 1-2 in week 6 of basketball but they managed to escape embarrassment by toppling the lowly Pistons in the battle of the East’s cellar-dwelling teams. Jordan Poole is having a horrid season and this team is sinking fast alongside his non-existent jump shot.
