Week 5 of NBA basketball is done and the top teams from each conference are slowly showing their might and will against lower tier teams. The games have become much competitive in recent weeks despite some injuries ravaging some teams.
Today, we will be grading all 30 NBA teams in week 4 of NBA basketball.
Atlanta Hawks: C+ (Last Week C-)
This was a wild week for Atlanta. Not only did they put up a lot of points against their opponents, they also found a way to win a couple of games despite their lackluster defensive efforts. Trae Young is heating up lately.
Boston Celtics: A- (Last Week A+)
Losing to the Charlotte Hornets was embarrassing for Boston. While they managed to get back up and defeat the surging Bucks, they lost another game to the surprising Orlando Magic squad.
Brooklyn Nets: C- (Last Week C+)

This was not a very good week for Brooklyn. Although they managed to get a win against Miami, they weren’t able to keep up with the high-scoring Hawks and the Sixers.
Charlotte Hornets: C (Last Week D-)
LaMelo Ball and Miles Bridges are on a tear right now. They surprisingly beat the Celtics and took care of business against the lowly Washington Wizards. If they can sustain their momentum, this team will be dangerous.
Chicago Bulls: D (Last Week C-)
Chicago’s woes continued in week 5. They failed to register a single win against playoff-quality teams. The trade chatter is gaining momentum but there seems to be little to no interest from teams to acquire Bulls star Zach LaVine.
Cleveland Cavaliers: B- (Last Week B-)
Cleveland’s inconsistencies on the court are hurting their chances to become legit contenders. They are capable of winning against top-tier teams but they are finding it hard to muster a winning streak.
Dallas Mavericks: B (Last Week A-)
The Mavs are starting to show their flaws as a team. Getting blown out by Sacramento and the Clippers was truly an ugly sight. They don’t play any defense on the floor and if their threes don’t hit, it’s essentially game over for them.
Denver Nuggets: B- (Last Week A-)
Denver’s recent slide is anything but pretty. Nikola Jokic is being tasked to do it all but the rest of his teammates can’t seem to find the bottom of the net. They went 1-3 this past week with Jamal Murray still nursing an injury.
Detroit Pistons: D- (Last Week D-)
The Pistons are now on a legendary losing streak and that may continue unless a miracle dawns upon them. They are just ugly to watch and their rotation has been chaotic. It’s surprising that head coach Monty Williams hasn’t gotten enough flak from their fans.
Golden State Warriors: C+ (Last Week C-)
Things are starting to look up for the Warriors this past week. They managed to douse the red-hot Rockets and contain the young Spurs. Draymond Green is expected to be back this week after his suspension is up.
Houston Rockets: B (Last Week B+)
The Rockets managed to go 2-2 this past week. One of those wins was against the struggling Denver Nuggets. Jalen Green seemingly found his touch again but Alperen Sengun has emerged to be their clear-cut franchise player for years to come.
Indiana Pacers: B (Last Week B+)
After a 2-2 week, there’s still a lot to like about Indiana. Haliburton is emerging as one of the top players in the entire Eastern Conference this season. If Myles Turner somehow manages to get out of his slump, the Pacers could become a nuisance to deal with in their conference.
Los Angeles Clippers: B (Last Week C-)
The Clippers are finally clicking as a team as of late. Paul George has been phenomenal for them. Leonard and Harden are currently in a mini slump but they still were able to get some wins to get their campaign going.
Los Angeles Lakers: B+ (Last Week B-)
Week 5 was a good week for the Lakers. They managed to beat quality teams like the Rockets and the Cavaliers. They would have had a perfect week if they executed well down the stretch against the Mavs.
Memphis Grizzlies: D (Last Week C)
Even with Bane and Jackson Jr. performing well, the Grizzlies continued to struggle on the court. Marcus Smart is out for a few weeks and Ja Morant’s suspension won’t end until mid-December. This is becoming a lost season for them.
Miami Heat: B (Last Week A)
After being rejuvenated, the Heat now have lost two games in a row. But don’t fret too much as they usually get their groove on at a certain part of a season and this year is no different. Expect Jimmy and the gang to bounce back in week 6.
Milwaukee Bucks: A (Last Week A)
Milwaukee is starting to get comfortable in their new lineup. Lillard’s shot has started to fall but their recent success should be credited because of Brook Lopez’s incredible play. He’s found his touch again and has been a menace on the defensive end of the floor.
Minnesota Timberwolves: A+ (Last Week A+)
Nobody could have predicted Minnesota’s success this season. Anthony Edwards is playing at a high level right now and is widely considered one of the best young players in the game. Their success should be sustainable as the season progresses.
New Orleans Pelicans: B+ (Last Week C+)
The Pelicans continued their winning ways against top-tier competition in week 5. Although they inexplicably lost to the struggling Jazz to end their week, they still got a solid grade due to their inspiring play despite missing some key players on the roster due to injuries.
New York Knicks: B+ (Last Week B+)
The Knicks are a tough bunch to deal with. Their defense has been solid throughout the month of November. They beat the Heat after being down 21 points in what was probably one of their best games of the young season.
Oklahoma City Thunder: B+ (Last Week B+)
The Thunder went 2-1 this past week and proved that they could become legitimate contenders this year. Chet Holmgren is proving to everybody that he has what it takes to be a star in the league and the ROTY race will not be a guaranteed win for his rival, Victor Wembanyama.
Orlando Magic: A+ (Last Week B-)
Despite missing the services of Fultz, Orlando has proven that they are a deep team from 1 to 5. The Wagner brothers are playing at a high level right now and opponents are having a tough time slowing down their momentum.
Philadelphia 76ers: B (Last Week A-)
The Sixers again compiled a 2-2 week. Losing Kelly Oubre to an unfortunate injury has caught up to them recently. While Embiid has continued his dominating ways, his teammates have struggled to score the ball efficiently in week 5.
Phoenix Suns: A+ (Last Week B)
The Suns are on a roll right now and went 4-0 this past week. Kevin Durant is having an MVP-caliber season, scoring at will against his opponents on a nightly basis. Booker is also having a great season as well and it’s safe to say that they are a legitimate threat to win it all this season.
Portland Trail Blazers: D- (Last Week D-)
The Blazers are struggling lately. Deandre Ayton has yet to score at a high rate and Scoot Henderson’s rookie campaign has been very disappointing so far. They are definitely going to lose more games until April.
Sacramento Kings: A (Last Week A)
The Kings lost back-to-back games against the Pelicans this past week. However, they also beat Dallas and the mighty Wolves. They have started to play great basketball recently and will be hard to stop if their threes are falling at a high rate.
San Antonio Spurs: D- (Last Week D-)
The Spurs have not won a game since the 3rd of November. Jeremy Sochan is struggling to play the point and Vassel has been in and out of the lineup due to an injury. Wembanyama has been good for them but the rookie can’t do it all.
Toronto Raptors: B (Last Week C)
The Raptors bounced back this past week after an uninspiring week 4 of basketball. They won a squeaker against the Pacers and managed to thrash the struggling Bulls. Pascal Siakam is balling again and that’s great news for the franchise.
Utah Jazz: D- (Last Week D+)
The Jazz did not have a good week. They lost to the Suns, Lakers and the lowly Blazers but managed to salvage a win against the Pelicans in week 5. Markkanen is thriving at his new role at the 5 spot but the same could not be said to his teammates.
Washington Wizards: D- (Last Week D-)
Washington failed to win a single game this past week. The scoreboard has been embarrassing, to say the least. Rumor has it that the team doesn’t view Jordan Poole as a long-term fit for the Wizards.
