After a couple of weeks of NBA action, only two teams have remained undefeated in the league: the Cleveland Cavaliers and the Oklahoma City Thunder.
While the opening week was fun, week two has shown us a tiny glimpse of non-contenders who are looking to hasten their rebuilding process this season.
Let’s dive into each NBA team’s grades after week two of non-stop action.
Which NBA teams had the highest grades after week two of games?
Atlanta Hawks: C- (Last Week: B+)
If the Hawks are serious about making some noise in the East, they have no business in losing back-to-back games against the lowly Wizards at this early in the season. No excuses for it. They should be better. Trae Young needs to be a better leader.
Boston Celtics: A- (Last Week: A+)
The only dent to the Celtics’ grade this week is their lone loss against a struggling Pacers team during their high-scoring NBA contest. Other than that, they should still be the team to beat this season.

Brooklyn Nets: B+ (Last Week: C)
Forgive us, 2023 FIBA World MVP Dennis Schroder. You have proven to us that you are a certified baller. This was a fairly positive week for the Nets, winning against multiple playoff contenders with their signature fast-paced offense. Now, if Ben Simmons tries to be more aggressive offensively, then Brooklyn should not be an easy target for teams anymore this year.
Charlotte Hornets: C (Last Week: C)
Tre Mann has been a pleasant surprise for the Hornets this season. He’s kinda playing like a young version of Sixers legend Allen Iverson, with all the accessories. However, besides him and LaMelo, the rest of this NBA team has stagnated, and so have their grades for this week.
Chicago Bulls: B (Last Week: C)
Hats off to the Bulls for not backing down against playoff-caliber teams at this early part of the season. While they are just 3-4 after week two, the wins they gathered were impressive. There’s probably hope for this squad after all.

Cleveland Cavaliers: A+ (Last Week: A)
We were talking about how week two would provide a real test for the Cavs, and boy…they passed with flying colors! They are now 7-0 to start the season and are looking like a team that could potentially challenge Boston come playoff time. An A+ grade for this rising NBA franchise is surely warranted.
Dallas Mavericks: B+ (Last Week: B)
Klay Thompson has struggled in the past three games, but all is not lost for the Mavs. It’s a good thing that they have Kyrie Irving and Luka Doncic on the roster. Irving has been playing well lately, and Doncic, after a slow start, has been balling like an MVP-caliber guy for the Mavs.
Denver Nuggets: B (Last Week: D)
The Nuggets have not resolved their backcourt problems yet, but they should be thankful that Nikola Jokic is on the roster. He’s the sole reason the 2023 NBA champs went on to earn a grade of B from a D in week one. Murray and Porter Jr. better wake up from their slump, though.
Detroit Pistons: C (Last Week: D-)
We are not going to be as harsh as last year for this young Pistons squad. The expectations aren’t high to begin with. But they have shown us that they can compete at a higher level and are willing to do anything to position themselves for a win. We respect that.
Golden State Warriors: A (Last Week: B+)
Oh…forgive us, Buddy Hield. We didn’t know that you had that in you. Even without Stephen Curry, the Warriors have kept winning. What in the world is happening? They truly deserve the A grade in week two as this proud NBA franchise continues to amaze us with their resilience to stay at the top of the league.
Houston Rockets: B (Last Week: C-)
The Rockets are a pest. Well, at least in the state of Texas, where they just manhandled both the Mavs and the Spurs in week two. Despite the slow start of Alperen Sengun, the Rockets are finding ways to grind out wins.
Indiana Pacers: C (Last Week: C+)
Is Tyrese Haliburton overrated? Former NBA guard Austin Rivers thinks so. Indiana’s lone win in week two was rather impressive as it was against the Celtics. Other than that, they were mediocre at best. They need to turn their season around and find ways to win.
Los Angeles Clippers: D (Last Week: B)
The Clippers had us all fooled. Losers of three straight, the team could not get anything going in week three. James Harden is aging hastily before we can blink, and the team’s overreliance on him has backfired in just a couple of weeks. Oh, Kawhi…why can’t you stay healthy?
Los Angeles Lakers: B (Last Week: A)
At 4-2, the Lakers should not complain. We know that they can be better. Anthony Davis has finally accepted and embraced the role as this team’s franchise player. It’s not that LeBron has regressed or anything. He’s still pretty good for a guy who’s turning 40 at the end of 2024.
Memphis Grizzlies: B+ (Last Week: B+)
Ja Morant has yet to play like a superstar this season, but the Grizzlies aren’t complaining. They have enough to muster out wins despite his struggles. Zach Edey has slowly shown that he’s capable of handling the duties in the middle of the paint, but he still needs to get out of foul trouble.
Miami Heat: B (Last Week: C)
This was a relatively quiet week for Miami, but one positive note emerged from it—Jimmy Butler is playing well again. If he plays well, so are the rest of this Heat team. Bam Adebayo is not yet ready to become option A for this team. Maybe he still needs a couple more seasons to do so.
Milwaukee Bucks: F (Last Week: D)
The rare F has been given, and the unfortunate recipients of this grade are none other than the Milwaukee Bucks, the 2021 NBA champs. It’s not like this was out of nowhere, you know. They had this one coming. Losers of five straight, coach Doc Rivers has done nothing to right the ship. Even with Giannis and Dame balling out, the wins continue to be elusive.
Minnesota Timberwolves: B (Last Week: B+)
Not sold out with the Wolves team just yet. Are they as good as a squad last year? Perhaps yes and no. Losing a pillar like Karl-Anthony Towns will inevitably change the dynamics of a franchise. Anthony Edwards, Rudy Gobert, and Julius Randle are still in the infancy stage of how to play together as a unit.
New Orleans Pelicans: C- (Last Week: B)
Injuries…AGAIN! Ugh. First was Dejounte Murray. Now, it’s CJ McCollum. Can this team catch a break or something? It seems like they cannot, though. Such wasted potential. Despite the brilliance of Ingram and Williamson on the court together, this team is now a couple of guys short on their backcourt rotation.
New York Knicks: B+ (Last Week: B)
Let’s temper the expectations for the Knicks for now. We know they’ll be good, but there will be a slight learning curve before they’ll get there. The good thing, though, is that they are on track to become a top-three team in the East this season. Karl-Anthony Towns is a great fit for this team. His chemistry with Jalen Brunson will only get better as the year progresses.
Oklahoma City Thunder: A+ (Last Week: A+)
The A+ grade for this young NBA squad is warranted. They’ve been extremely good this season. One of the most outstanding facts about them is that they haven’t relied too heavily on SGA on the floor. Chet Holmgren has risen his game dramatically, and so has Jalen Williams. It won’t be a surprise if OKC ends up as the top-seeded team on the loaded West when April rolls around.
Orlando Magic: C (Last Week: B+)
Losing star Paolo Banchero to an injury was a tough blow for this up-and-coming Magic squad. Their offense is built around him. Franz Wagner has no choice but to step up his game and become the leader of the team until Banchero comes back. Early results have been abysmal, though.
Philadelphia 76ers: F (Last Week: C-)
Who would’ve thought that both the Sixers and the Bucks would get an F grade this early into the 2024-2025 NBA season? The good news for Sixers fans is that the team should be able to dig out of this hole once Joel Embiid and Paul George return from their injuries. The bad thing is that the season could be lost by the time both guys suit up. In addition, Embiid has already gotten a technical foul and an off-court skirmish with a columnist before suiting up for the Sixers this season. Yikes!
Phoenix Suns: A (Last Week: B+)
Count us among those who are surprised. The Suns are red-hot and blazing right now, and a huge part of it is due to the magnificent duo of Kevin Durant and Devin Booker. At 36, Durant is balling like he’s 25 or something. He’s as lethal as ever. 2025 MVP, anyone?
Portland Trail Blazers: D (Last Week: C)
Just as expected, nothing has changed much for the Blazers. Regress is the only word that fits them nicely. They have the talent but don’t have an alpha, aka a franchise player. Simons isn’t Damian Lillard, and Deandre Ayton isn’t LaMarcus Aldridge. They should just ship Jerami Grant to the lowest bidder and be done with it.
Sacramento Kings: B (Last Week: D-)
Week two was way better for the Kings than week one. DeMar DeRozan has shown that he still has a lot left in the tank to help this team gather some wins and possibly make some noise in the crowded West. Now, they need Keegan Murray and Malik Monk to elevate their game to provide the Kings some scoring relief whenever the trio of Fox, Sabonis, and DeRozan sit on the bench.
San Antonio Spurs: C+ (Last Week: C)
After a slow start in the opening week, Chris Paul seemingly found the fountain of youth in week two. No, he’s not scoring as he used to, but he’s effective whenever he’s on the floor. The “Point God” is getting comfortable with how to feed Victor Wembanyama the ball, resulting in automatic points for the team.
Toronto Raptors: C (Last Week: D)
The Raptors performed admirably in week two despite missing the services of Scottie Barnes and Immanuel Quickley. RJ Barrett is starting to show some glimpses of consistency. And what about Gradey Dick, huh? After a so-so rookie year, the sophomore guard came out swinging this season for Toronto.
Utah Jazz: F (Last Week: D-)
Can we petition for a lower grade than F, as this once-proud NBA franchise has truly stumbled to start the season? It isn’t just ugly; it’s appalling. Nearly all of their losses were blowouts. On average, they are being decimated by 18.5 points per game. It’s time to hit the reset button and wave the “Cooper Flagg.”
Washington Wizards: C (Last Week: D)
It’s good to see that the Wizards have managed to snag a couple of wins this time of the year. Jordan Poole is averaging 22.2 PPG, a career-high for him. It seems that he’s playing well again after a season-long slump last year. On another note, we think it’s time for Kyle Kuzma to be shipped elsewhere. His time with this team has peaked.
