Cameron Brink turned a lot of heads with her performance at Stanford before her 2nd overall draft selection in the WNBA draft, just behind Caitlin Clark. But not many people were familiar with her ties to Stephen Curry until she thanked her godmother, Sonya Curry, the mother of the Warriors star, after her selection. Now she is delving deeper into her relationship with her godbrother to provide new details about her experience of growing up with the Curry family.
During a recent episode of “Podcast P with Paul George”, Cameron touched on her relationship with Steph. She said, “He’s kind of like a theater kid… He’s just always acting a fool and being silly… You always see him smiling… He’s joking, like life’s just a joy when you’re around him,” while talking about Steph’s personality.
Brink and Curry’s mothers met during their days at Virginia Tech and soon became best friends. Cameron and Steph’s fathers also played together in their college basketball team, which started the long-standing relationship between the families. Just like Sonya being the godmother to Cameron, the LA Sparks forward’s parents are godparents to the 4-time NBA Champion.
Growing up together gave them ample time to get to know each other apart from sharing the same passion for basketball. During the podcast, Brink recalled her memory of Stephen Curry’s competitive streak, which the fans are accustomed to seeing on the court.
Cameron Brink Opens Up About Competitive Streak of Stephen Curry
LA Sparks’ latest acquisition is a tough competitor which she proved during her time at Stanford. But how does that compare to that of Stephen Curry? Brink had just the answer to that.
“I feel we’ve played like more video games. I feel like we really should. I don’t want to actually try on H.O.R.S.E. because I’m just going to get mad. If we shot, I would just give up. I’m competitive but like with him, I’m realistic. He’s going to whoop my a..,” said the 22-year-old about Steph. (After 15:20)

Cameron Brink had a tough start to her life in the WNBA with two back-to-back losses in the opening fixtures. She is also averaging 7 points per game, 5 rebounds and 2 assists so far this season, and it’s quite obvious that she is yet to find her feet in the big league. But for a person who has close ties with Stephen Curry, a rough patch is only moments away from evaporating before Brink finds her spectacular best in the game she breathes for.
